Discover Discount Hotels
Everyone seems to be looking for discount hotels these days. Whether its Manchester or London, New York or Chicago people are looking to save those few extra pennies off any possible hotel room. There are some obvious factors involved in the cost of a hotel room and a few not so apparent. Here is a quick guide to help you.
The primary factor for shaping the price of a hotel is how far in advance you make the booking. Many hotel chains offer cheaper rooms for those savvy enough to book well in advance. Also be aware of local events, the arrival of a large sports team or competition can push the prices way higher in the days leading up to it.
The trick here is to consider when the hotel is likely to be empty and under booked. Usually, this is just after a major event such as a public holiday. An example is just after the children’s summer holiday in October. Vistors are less likely to be away then as they value their children’s schooling and prefer not to get in the way with it.
Another money saving point to think about is strange dates. Most hotels for example charge less for a room at the beginning of the week, usually Wednesday to Sunday. Therefore, for the same money you can get a far more plush room. On the flipside, this could work to your advantage as the native attractions too could be charging less for these days as too.
If you have Internet access you can always make use of the comparison websites. These are slightly slow and can be tedious but they are a great way to save some money. During my time using these websites I found it best to stick with one as they’re all more or less much the same, they all provide similar discounts with the operators.
The hotel location will play a big role in the price too. Opting to stay at a centrally placed hotel close to the city centre is going to cost a little bit more than one on the fringes. Utilise Google maps to your advantage here and get a good idea of the travel distance versus price ratio. You don’t want to save money on the room only to pay it out again (and sometimes more) on travel costs back into the city.
Do you really need the gym and other facilities? Don’t book a hotel with lots of snazzy add-ons unless you’re adamant you’re going to make use of them. The final fee is always bolstered by the availability of additions such as gyms, swimming pools and tennis courts. If you don’t plan to take advantage of something simply go without it and save some money.
Sometimes, phoning up and bargaining for a cheap deal is worthwhile. Usually, larger chains will deny you but smaller independent businesses can bend over to some extent to make the sale. There’s nothing to lose is there?
As you can see, saving money on hotel fees is definitely possible with a little pre planning and thinking.
